Kingston Gardiner Highway 2 South - Renewable Energy Approval Process

Axio Power Canada Inc./SunEdison Canada are proposing to construct a 10-Megawatt (MW) groundmount solar PV (photovoltaic) project near Odessa, in the Township of Loyalist, Ontario. The project is being developed under Ontario’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) program. As such, the project needs to complete the Renewable Energy Approval (REA) process and receive an REA from the Ministry of the Environment (MOE).

This project was originally being developed by Axio Power. Axio Power merged with SunEdison in 2011 and the project is now continuing under the SunEdison name.

This website has been created to provide interested parties with access to information about the project and the Project Team that is carrying out the Highway 2 South REA study.

Consultation:

Consultation is an integral part of the REA process. Consultation provides opportunities for two-way communication with interested stakeholders. Consultation activities also enable the identification of potential environmental issues early in the decision-making process and ensure that they are given appropriate consideration. The purpose of the consultation program is to provide input to assist the Project Team in making decisions throughout the REA process.

Public meetings are the main forum for public input and two meetings will be held over the course of the study. The meetings are arranged in an open house/drop-in centre format to allow the public to see results, exchange information, and ask one-on-one questions of the Project Team.
